Things You Should be Aware of When you switch to a Business Analyst Role

We are living in a world where everything is dependent on how well we understand data and how quickly we can use that data to make quicker decisions for the said purposes. The pace at which we are growing with data science has enabled us to pursue challenging roles in our careers. One such high demand role in the data science ecosystem relates to that of a Business Analyst. In recent times, the demand for a business analyst has exponentially exploded even as a large number of professionals are driving their efforts to join relevant business analyst courses. Joining a business analyst course is definitely a very fruitful decision, but there are many other things you should keep in mind when starting fresh with a business analyst role.

In this article, I have highlighted a few things that you should bear in mind when you make a decision to start as a business analyst.

Business Analysis Involves Hardcore Play with Data and Visualization

We all know how data-driven decision-making tools have taken over all aspects of a business. Business Intelligence is a major avenue where data is used extensively to decipher the deeper meaning of raw data and analysts work in a team to build an intuitive self-service platform to deliver highly relevant actionable insights that help decision-makers take a smarter approach to business productivity.

Business Analyst Course

From using Big Data analysis for predictive intelligence to leveraging Artificial Intelligence and machine learning for self learning capabilities, to using Automation for simplifying mundane data entry tasks—there is a hardcore involvement of data in business analysis – and all this is reported on a dashboard in an interactive manner using advanced graphical programming called data visualization or data storytelling.

If you are pursuing a business analyst course, you should involve yourself in learning to code for automation and machine learning, in addition to acquiring data management skills to build a highly intuitive data visualization deck that makes business intelligence operations so easy and simplified for every user.

Be prepared for some live coding and testing

Most analysis requires working with programming languages and therefore you should be familiar with basic coding at some level. Thanks to the rise of automation and open source DevOps, business analysts are taking a cue from Low-code techniques to design and create their own data analysis dashboards and workflows that are generating a lot of good results. Advanced business intelligence tools allow users from BI /BA teams to build their own workflow systems and automation routes to simplify how data is mined, analyzed, stored, refined, and reused at various levels of operation.

Try doing one workshop course every week, or at least 3 per month

Boot camps are important? Yes, these are!

Boot camps in business analyst bring tons of information and insights on the current trends in data management and other relevant topics. Top analysts attend a lot of webinars and boot camp workshops to ace the challenges thrown up from real-time scenarios. These prove to be useful when you are appearing for mock interviews and are forced to undertake complex experiments and tests. In the long run, productive data analysts would have attended anywhere between 100 and 200 boot camps in a span of 2-3 years. In a course, you should aim to attend at least 10 workshops to succeed with all the learning acquired during the business analyst course.

Be Prepared to Interact with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from Different Domains

Data analysis is an all-pervasive operation. Almost anyone can pursue BA to solve a set of complex problems using data, automation, and visualization. Interaction with SMEs helps understand the problem better and in a meaningful manner, you can build a sequence that will interject relevant data points to solve the issues.

If you are serious about joining a business analysis group, you should be prepared to learn from the best in the field. For example, you can’t quite understand how the medical apps work if you don’t understand the stages at which healthcare services are provided and at what scale. Therefore, you will find a lot of business analysis happening between the team of data analysts and healthcare service professionals such as hospital admin workers, radiologists, nurses, pharmacists, doctors, and surgeons.

So, you should be aware that these activities would take a chunk of your leisure time, and therefore you should be prepared well in advance about planning how long you can master these action plans.
