Paint Colors

Painting walls isn?t a chore anymore. Social media uncovers the creative approaches taken by pro painters and decorators to revamp drab looking walls with jaw-dropping color schemes. These ideas, as well as diverse and vibrant color templates, inspire us to give walls a rendition of our personality and expression through colors.

Once you decide to paint your walls, the first obvious step is to search for THE perfect color. Having endured this ourselves, we know how tiring this task is. But the bitter truth is that finding the perfect color on the web only marks the beginning of another tedious task. And that is to be able to find the paint color that seamlessly matches the color you have selected.

Finding the perfect color harmony between computer colors and their real-world counterparts is challenging owing to a variety of uncontrollable reasons. Computer or phone screens are designed to aid text readability and aren?t necessarily reliable when it comes to color calibration. There is also a substantial chance of inconsistency between your printer?s color scheme and the color matching system at paint shops.

So the most precise way to match or how to match paint colors and print colors?

Well, we have written a cheat sheet to guide you through a sequence of steps to simplify this tedious task.

Step – 1. Finding the RGB Color Value of the selected color

Now regarding the RGB Color value, before we jump into the ?How? we?d like to explain the ?What?.  The RGB color model is a basic model where the three primary colors, namely, Red, Green, and Blue, are added in a variety of combinations to produce a distinct color. This color model is therefore also known as the additive color model. The intensity value of each of the three colors can range between the values 0 to 255. A permutation of different values when applied to these primary colors gives a new distinct color.

So we can say that any color we fancy has a specific code value in the RGB scale and our first step is to find out this particular value.

There are other different color models also but, for the scope of finding a color match, you don?t necessarily need to familiarize yourself with these.

The color you have chosen can be a single specific color or can be a color you want to pick out from the color scheme of an image displayed on the web.

Whichever be the case, your first task at hand is to get an RGB color value for the color you desire. Now there are a plethora of online tools that you can use to generate color values from web-pages.?

Some of these are:-

1) ColorPicker- ColorPick Eyedropper

2) ColorZilla

3) Instant Eyedropper

You can also render these RGB color values by using MS Paint. All you need to do is download the image and open it with Paint. Here you will find a tool called ?Color picker?, which can extract the exact RGB value of the color on which you place your cursor.

Step – 2. Converting the RGB value into respective Paint Color Values

Now that you know the RGB values of your desired color, the half battle you won. But you still can?t take these values to your paint shop. These values are alien in the real world paint industry and will only confuse you with multiple similar-looking shades of the same color.

So, the second step of our cheat sheet will help you out of this puzzle.

There are quite a few websites that will convert the print color formats such as RGB, HEX and, CMYK, to name a few, into color values that pertain to the paint industry. Further, if you are lucky, you can also get the exact names of pre-existing paint colors from certain manufacturers!

One such useful website is the EasyRGB Color Calculator. You will need to enter the already available RGB color values and the algorithm will produce the closest color templates and links to the already available paint color options that match the desired RGB value.

We understand that even a slight inconsistency in the color shades can significantly deviate the final result from your visualization. Therefore, the steps prescribed in this article will aid you in striking the perfect color harmony between your print and paint colors.

But keep in mind that when it comes to achieving the seamless color match, the sky’s the limit and the only way to excel is through constant exploration.

So have a fun-filled painting experience while you decorate your walls with the colors that express you best!
