You work with pine cones.

The pine cones are very original and bring nature into the house. As we have already said, it is possible to create a centerpiece, decorate a Christmas wreath, personalized place card, and decorations to hang on the Christmas tree. Below, we offer you two tutorials to make at home, simple and quick.

Christmas place cards with pine cones

The place card is a very nice idea to decorate the table. Setting up and decorating makes the atmosphere in the house even more festive and cute. A personalized note can be attached to the pine cones. You can leave them next to the plate, on the napkin, or next to other decorations and landscape drawing easy.

Centerpiece with pine cones

Pine cones are perfect for decorating the dining table. Adorned with a few green twigs, colors, or glitter, they become the ideal decorations for such special moments.

Start with pine cones that are in good condition, brown, not green, and have already begun to open. The drier they are, the more open the pine cones become. Many tutorials out there show the use of a bag of purchased craft pine cones. Those packaged pine cones have been cooked and are very dry. They are a great option to use if you don’t have naturally available pine cones in your area. The goal here is to make this project as economical as possible.

Material

? Very dry pine cones completely open (about 30)

? Trash can

? 1.5 l of bleach

? Water

? Bricks

? Rubber gloves

? Towel

Instructions

1. Place the pine cones in the bucket.

2. Pour 1.5 liters of bleach over the pine cones.

3. Add water to cover the pine cones completely. The best result is 80% bleach / 20% water. Don’t add too much water.

4. Place bricks or stones on top of the pine cones to prevent them from floating.

5. Leave in the bleach solution for 36-48 hours. They will all close tight while wet.

6. Around the 36th hour, put on your rubber gloves and remove any pinecones that look like the white pinecone. If you remove them earlier (24 hours), they will still bleach, but the bleached pine cones will have more woody or aged appearance. They won’t be the full-bodied blonde bombshells you’re looking for. Place them on a tarp outdoors in the sun, preferably on a concrete, asphalt, or brick surface to start drying. Rotate them every few hours. Sometimes, if you leave pinecones in the bleach for too long, they may start to disintegrate in places, so be aware of this possibility.

7. The drying process takes a few days. When they open fully, then you know they are ready. Drying outdoors for a few days in the hot sun should get rid of any bleach scent.

Christmas crafts with pine cones

Nordic style Christmas decorations are minimal and very chic. They are timeless and always have many nature-inspired touches. You will usually see many wood elements, natural textures, and neutral colors, with white used as the main color. The pine cones can decorate the house for the most beautiful holidays of the year.

If you choose to give your wreath a look, the making time is just over 2 hours to complete, but if you’re in a hurry, you could wrap strips of leather around the wreath, which would only take around 20 minutes to render.

Material

? Sponge ring (optional, you can use any ring you have available)

? Green sprigs

? Pine cones

? Hot glue + glue gun

? 1 meter of faux leather vinyl

? Sponge

? Brown acrylic paint

? Scissors

? Leather strap with double-sided adhesive part

Instructions

1. Start by cutting the strips of faux leather. The width should be approximately 3 cm.

2. The trick is to attach these strips of skin to the X-shaped foam base. Attach the first at a diagonal angle, then the second in the opposite direction. Keep repeating these two steps as you work around the crown. I guess it’s like making a braid with strips of leather if it makes sense. I heat-glued each leather strip to the back of the wreath and cut the remaining leather. Try not to add hot glue around the front of the crown as it shows through the skin. You will see a little bump if you do.

3. Any brownish-colored craft paint should work for this. Slightly wet the sponge, squeeze it well.

4. Apply the craft paint directly from the bottle onto the sponge?just a few touches. The idea behind this technique is to give the skin just enough character to allow for texture pop.

5. To hang the crown, the leather strap is the ideal one. The stitching is optional and is for decorative purposes only. Use hot-glue to fix it later.

6. Between the strap and the crown, place a few green twigs and pine cones.
