When we go shopping for home items, we don?t really spend a lot of time and effort into researching about fitted sheets. We just usually think about mattresses and pillows, throws and even blankets, and occasionally mattress protectors especially after buying a new and expensive mattress. But when it comes to buying fitted sheets, we don?t think much about it, as long as it is not itchy or scratchy to touch, we go ahead and purchase it.

We think that the fitted sheet would not be as visible since it would be covered by the blanket or the throw. But we have to remember that fitted sheet impact our sleep comfort as much as the pillows and mattress? firmness and the blanket?s softness.

Now that the importance of the quality of fitted sheet is established, knowing which of the materials used to make fitted sheet is the best would make it easier for us to decide which one is suited to our need and meet our preference.

    Flannel

Flannel is recommended during winter season since the material provides warmth during colder times. It is actually a combination of cotton, wool and other insulating components. In spite of it being a combination of various materials, flannel is actually affordable and it comes in various colours and designs. One major disadvantage though to flannel is that you could not use it during warmer season since it is not as breathable as other materials.

    Silk

Perhaps one of the most luxurious fabric made for king single bed sheets, silk is also one of the pricier materials. This is understandable since it is worth its hefty price tag (just make sure though, that you follow the right procedure for its care). Not only is it luxurious, it is also smooth, cool to touch, soft and most importantly, hypoallergenic. Silk is perfect for those humid nights since it also expels moisture from our skin immediately. No more hot, sticky and sweaty feeling at night!

    Bamboo

Bamboo might not be the first material to come to mind when fitted sheet is being discussed. But bamboo is actually one of the top contenders when it comes to the best material for fitted sheet. It is soft like cotton and luxurious like silk (without the costly price tag). Don?t jump the gun though and purchase the first bamboo fitted sheet you see. Slow down and read the product description thoroughly since one of the downsides is the chemicals used in manufacturing and preparing bamboo to fabric.

    Cotton

Still a favourite, cotton is widely available and affordable because of its breathability and softness. There are different varieties of cotton and you have to do your research prior to know which is which. Some of the cons when it comes to this fabric include non-durability and coarser feel for short fibre cotton.

After deciding on the fitted sheet that you wanted to purchase, the next thing you should research about is how to properly care for them to ensure that you would be able to enjoy them for a long period of time.
