Asia Cup is the only continental championship in the game of cricket. The tournament began in 1984 when United Arab Emirates hosted its first-ever edition with three teams participating in it. India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan played in the inaugural edition of the tournament.
India are the inaugural champions of the Asia Cup as well as the most successful side in the history of the Asia Cup tournament. They have won it seven times. Sri Lanka are second in the list with 6 titles followed by Pakistan who have won it twice.
From 2016, the tournament is played in both the white-ball formats – ODI and T20I. The format of the competition depends on the upcoming ICC global event. In 2016, it was played in T20 format for the first time because of the T20 World Cup. In 2018, it was played in the ODI format because of the 2019 World Cup. This year, it will be played in the ODI format once again.
Talking about the Asia Cup highest run-scorer, we are first taking a look at the edition-wise highest run-scorers.
