It is mostly used in meals to improve health conditions.

Moreover, it has some other benefits such as for hair.

    Damage to the hair:

Our hair gets damaged with the daily brushing, combing, washing, straightening, and styling. They become dry, broken, and, frizzy.

    Why does it happen?

Daily washing, combing, and straightening can damage the cuticle of the hair. The cuticle is basically a tough and protective layer of the hair that protects our hair shaft from any damage. Due to which some of the fibrous protein also loses. Fibrous proteins build up the cortex. Cortex is responsible for the colour and thickness of hair. As a result of this damage, our hair becomes thin and gets damage causing the breakage of hair.

How Coconut Oil is Helpful in Protecting the Hair?

Coconut oil is referred to as the best oil to moisturize the hair. It reduces protein loss and provides health to the hair.

Researchers say that after comparing coconut oil to some other mineral oils, just to check the amount of protein lost from hair they applied the oils to two different women. They applied the oil before and after washing the hair. The amount of protein loss is much less from coconut oil as compared to the other mineral oil. Hence, it is claimed with evidence that coconut oil is best for hair than all other oils.

Coconut oil’s chemical structure consists of medium-chain fatty acids, often called lauric acid. These acids make the coconut oil long and straight which is easily absorbable into the hair shaft. While the structure of sunflower or other mineral oil makes them, bulkier which are not easy to absorb into the hair.

How to Prevent Hair from The Damage?

A very helpful tip to protect your hair from damage is to apply oil before and even after the hair wash.

Our hair has more chances to be damaged when they are wet. Yes, their roots become soft when they absorb water.

When your hair is wet, the cortex of the hair absorbs the water and swells. Due to which there come some changes to the structure.

The hair cuticle is built up by flat and overlapping scales that are linked to the roots. After swelling these scales which were pointing inwards, now pushed outward so they can stick up.

That’s how there are more chances of wet hair to be damaged.

Application of oil before hair wash prevent all this phenomenon and protect the hair from being damaged.

Oiling the hair after hair washes also protect the hair from being damaged. This makes the hair soft and smooth by reducing the friction after straightening and combing. That’s why there are fewer chances of breakage of hair.

Coconut oil is best to prevent your hair from all the damages and helps your hair to grow more. It moisturizes your hair and prevents them to let dry, that’s how it reduces the breakage of hair. It also protects the hair from loss of protein.
